Ages 13-18

Our comprehensive program for teenagers includes:

Reserved Weekly Lesson Spot for the year

All children have weekly private lessons with their parent(s), which run during the school year from September to May. You will be assigned an individual lesson schedule, with lessons on the same day at the same time every week. In addition, we offer very flexible summer scheduling of lessons, which are vitally important to a child’s continuing progress

How to Get Started

Parents interested in registering their children are encouraged to watch what the Suzuki method entails. Attend one of many concerts and/or recitals, and observe another student’s private lesson. There is no charge for an observation. We will try to select a student of a similar age and skill level to give you a better idea of what to expect, hopefully ensuring that this is the right program for you and your family.

Group Classes

In additional to private lessons all children participate in relaxed and informal group classes, about once a month. This gives them their first experience of making music with others. Because all children learn a common repertoire, they are very quickly able to play together. The social aspect of our Suzuki community is strong, and we find it is a key motivator for the children to spend time with their peers

Enrichment Group Classes

These are classes beyond the Suzuki Repertoire that provides children with opportunities to learn the huge variety of styles and activities that’s it’s possible when you learn to play an instrument. These classes vary from year to year, some past examples included Rock & Roll, Fiddling, Children Choir, Training Orchestra, Chamber Groups, Master Classes with renowned musicians, and our most Advanced Ensemble – Presto!

Solo Recitals and Concerts

A few times a year children are invited to participate in concerts and solo recitals. These are celebrations of learning and include everyone from beginners to the most advanced performers. Even the youngest children have the opportunity to get up on stage.

Performances and Service Around the Community

We believe strongly in giving back to our wider community, and offer volunteer opportunities throughout the year for students to use their musical gifts for the benefit of others in Buffalo and beyond. We particularly focus on raising awareness of and benefiting children’s causes.
